Clay A. Cornett is president of LPS Default Solutions. He manages an experienced team of operations managers and sales executives in the field of default services to meet the needs of mortgage servicers throughout the country.
Cornett attended Southwestern University of Georgetown, Texas where he received his B.A. in Economics in 1980. He then attended South Texas College of Law where he graduated with his Juris Doctor degree in 1982. Cornett was licensed by the Supreme Court of Texas in May of 1983. He is also licensed to practice before the United States District Courts for the Western, Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of Texas.
Since 1983, Cornett has represented title companies, mortgage companies, and oil and gas companies in the area of real estate law. Cornett is a member of the Houston Bar Association, Texas Bar Association, American Bar Association, Texas Mortgage Bankers Association and the National Mortgage Bankers Association. He has also served on the FHA/VA Liaison Committee of the National Mortgage Bankers Association.
Previously, Cornett was employed by the firm of Barrett Burke Wilson Castle Daffin & Frappier, L.L.P. from 1995 to 2000, the firm of Brown & Shapiro from 1993 to 1995 and the firm of Shanks, Tritter & Ledbetter from 1985 to 1993 – all real estate practice-related law firms in Texas. His principal responsibilities at these firms were to handle state court litigation, foreclosure management and client development.
